Beginning their incubation journey this year, Cohort ‘18 brings a mix of cultures, geographies, ideologies, and perspectives. With an average age of 25 years, these young social entrepreneurs are an inspiration to millions.

Let’s take a look at these 11 organizations and their members who form EduMentum’s second cohort.

Bhumi (2006)

One of the largest volunteer-based organization in India, Bhumi is working towards whole school transformation in the affordable private schools in Chennai. They focus on empowering multiple stakeholders in the school to come together and work towards a common vision.

Thrive Foundation (2018) 

Jyothi Ravichandran
Thrive Foundation looks beyond just teaching and learning in the classroom. This Chennai-based organization looks at socio-emotional well being as an important component to achieve systemic education transformation. Their project aims at creating an encouraging atmosphere for both students and teachers in schools. 

Soch (2018)

Vaibhav Kumar

Based in Mewat, Haryana, Soch works with Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBVs) to create thriving communities of teachers, girls, and other stakeholders. Soch aims at making these schools centers of excellence offering quality education to children. 

Talent Hunt Committee (2013) 

Ravi Choudhary

Talent Hunt Committee works with affordable private schools in Ribhoi district in Meghalaya. It works with multiple stakeholders in the school and outside the school to enable them to provide quality education to children. The major aim is to help schools to be able to utilize existing resources to bring about a change in the education system.

Ayang works with government and affordable private schools towards improving the quality of education in the fast-shrinking Majuli Island of Assam. With their Humming Bird school, they have set an example of the importance of providing education in context. They are currently working with the local tribes. 

Pratyaya EduResearch Lab (2014)

Working with communities in  Pandhurna, Madhya Pradesh, Pratyaya’s mission is to nurture a self-sustainable educational ecosystem. 

Upkram (2018)

Upkram works towards the holistic development of children from marginalized communities in Uttar Pradesh by providing them access to quality education. They aim to create a discourse center to drive solutions for educational inequity through community participation. 

Barefoot Edu Foundation (2018) 

Jonathan Mendonca
Barefoot Edu Foundation aims at transforming affordable private schools into stimulating learning environments, contextualized for under-resourced communities. With initiatives like including agriculture as a part of teaching-learning practice, they aim to provide holistic education to the tribal areas in Maharashtra.

Maati (2018)

Niveshi Jain

Maati is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2018 operating in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. It aims at building a community that sows the seeds of transformation to bring about systemic change in education. Through their intervention – THE SEED project, they aim to create an alignment among the stakeholders to strengthen the school system, leaders, and teachers.

SRI Foundation (2017) 

Biswajit Brahmma

Based in Rewari district, Haryana, SRI Foundation envisions quality education for children by focusing on supportive home and community structures. They are currently working with government schools to bring together parents and teachers to improve these schools.
